Harugeki -Haruhi Suzumiya Doujin Game

Harugeki is so insanely fun that it is hard to believe it is a doujin game (fan made game). It starts off with a simple menu which gives you the option of playing arcade, story, mission, and a free battle modes or going to the configuration and status mode. The arcade mode let’s you play a character with a random number of allies and enemies depending on the stage. The story mode starts off with Kyon’s story and then moves on to Haruhi’s story. The story mode feels almost as if it were a visual novel. The free battle mode let’s you chose how many allies or enemies you have and lets you pick who their characters. The mission mode is what let’s you unlock items that can boost your character.
The game play is fairly simple. Like in most fighting games, you are able to attack normally, jump, dash, block, and use a special power. There is a boundary in each stage that makes it so that if you pass it, you will be blown back into platform while taking damage. The chest boxes contain power ups that boost your speed, strength, and energy, or either change you into “Ultimate mode” or hurt you with a trap.
Once you have completed some of the missions in the game you will gain items. These items are items that come from other Anime shows like Reina’s knife(Higurashi), or Fuko’s starFISH(Clannad). These items can boost the performance of the characters and can be equipped in the status mode.
Yes you are seeing right, that is Konota from lucky star you are seeing there. Like I mentioned earlier, the story mode has the feel of a visual novel and if you complete Haruhi’s story, you will meet Konata. After you have completed Konata’s story, you will unlock Akira (also from lucky star).
Here we have Konata carrying her famous choco cornet! Konata is a well rounded character that is very sturdy. This could be due to the fact that in the episode where she was playing MMORPGs she was a tanker =))
Here we have akira who reminds me of a cat with her feline agility. Unlike Konata, shes not very sturdy but makes up for it with high damage and speed.
Once you fill up the SOS bar, you are able to use super special skills that are far more powerful than the normal special skills. You can fill up the meter by attacking normally or making use of power ups.
These “super special skills” can be classified in two. One is the “super special” that you can do at immediately after you gain enough energy in the SOS meter, as shown above. I call it the Mikuru bomb!
The other “super special” can be done when you get a power up that changes your appearance. I would call this “SUPER DUPER MODE!!” for lack of a better title lol. As you can see above, Mikuru gained a power up and switched into “SUPER DUPER MODE!!” and was able to do the all too famous “MI MI MI MIKURU BEAAAAAM!”
This is of Nagato in her “Super Duper Mode”. Lols I think I better change the name of that, it’s starting to sound lame =P
Let’s not leave Kyon’s sister out of the action!
Got pawned by Yuki XD

If you haven’t already guessed, I’m a big Haruhi Suzumiya fanboy. If I were a girl you would probably here me scream “kyaaaaah!” at the mere mention of the word Haruhi but since I am not, you will probably catch me smiling from ear to ear instead.
The game itself was great in that it was so simple but so fun. The character designs were so good that you would think that a professional made them. This was actually the first time I every seen a doujinshi game of this caliber. I actually found a picture of this game while searching for random pics so I had “Google Boy” Goo search it for me. The game was about 370MB, about the same size of a single MKV anime show.
Goo!
It’s definitely a fun game although it is a shame that Kadokawa has banned it while it was in the middle of it’s development. The creators(Souvenir circ.) was about to add a multi player online feature in his next update but sadly, Kadokawa banned the game. Get the full article Here

Lol, why would they ban something that doesn’t affect the already hugely popular series?
Goo!
My guess would be that they could be afraid that a free Doujin game could become more popular than an official game.
Onibaku
You know they could have just bought the darn game and upgraded it or something, that way they could make a profit from it. Think people! Are you listening Kadokawa? Lol probably not
Goo!
Over all, I would rate the game a 9 out of 10. The reason being that there is no multiplayer feature for the reasons already said.

I love the game, but it is an incomplete game that leaves you wishing for something more. As you said before, yes it is a shame that they weren’t able to complete it but since it’s banned, it won’t be completed anymore unless Kadokawa does something. For now I will give it a 7 out of 10.
Average: 8/10
